Put Mark McCain out of your head and just listen to him as Johnny Crawford. He's no Sinatra, but he isn't bad, either. This is a young Johnny Crawford, probably his early teens, but he really has a nice way with a song. Too bad he didn't get more press for his voice. He's really quite good, picks up nicely on the emotion of the song that it really is quite enjoyable and moving. Very lyrical. He does a nice job. Again, it's too bad he didn't get more press for his voice. He can pick up on the meaning of the song very well. The ballads are nice.
To me, Crawford will always be remembered as the son on The Rifleman, but he had a long musical career, too. This collection of his early music is very representative of those days. Although I don’t remember him singing on the tv show, he had a pleasant voice.

I like this CD because it is very good and I like Johnny Crawford and I used to watch him on The Rifleman all the time. When he sang on the show it was great and it still is great and this CD will become a collectors item someday and I am just glad that I bought it. Thank you very much.
