My wife saw this DVD advertised in a magazine and, being a fitness junkie, decided she had to have it. Me, being the good (and cheap) husband I am, checked eBay for the best price. $12 shipped seemed reasonable for something brand new and name brand. I bit. When the DVD arrived a few days later, we suited up and popped that sucker in. I'll admit that I didn't really know what to expect. We had never seen a video from Jari Love, the creator of Get Ripped 1000. As it turns out, she knows what she is doing. The video guides you through workouts using lightweight dumbbells and a step along with traditional isometric movements. The trick is doing these movements in conjunction with one another, using several muscle groups at one time. This may sound difficult, but it is only as difficult as you allow. You see, Jari-like all good fitness instructors-has various intensities of each exercise to accommodate all fitness levels. What makes this video doable is that the difficult exercises are offset by easier exercises. In this manner, you won't be gasping for air and then asked to jump or lift a crazy heavy weight. Just when you are about to die, relief comes and you get to do an easier movement that keeps your heart rate up while allowing your muscles to recuperate. If 1000 calories seems unfeasible to you, consider that the creator of the video is taking into account not only all of the movements that you are doing, but the rest periods in between and the period after your workout when your heart rate and metabolic rate are still elevated AND BURNING FAT! The combination of a strenuous cardio workout and light weight lifting is the key to rapid fat burn. I do believe you will get lean if you do this video for any length of time. I am 60 days into P90X, and I found this workout to be as challenging as P90X plyometrics (don't tell Tony I said that.) I would suggest you buy this and find some other supporting videos or jog to keep from become bored with this routine. Get Ripped 1000 twice a week along with something else every other day for about an hour will get you serious results. Fo' serious!Read full review
This is another in a series of Ripped workouts, and it's the most cardio intensive. All of Jari's workouts are effective and tough. It's been hard to find a workout DVD that compares to a good gym class. Jari's DVDs have whipped me into the best shape of my life. I wish I'd had these 20 years ago. Bathing suit seasons would not have been so traumatic! There are a few things that bother me about the production of the Ripped DVDs, but these are secondary to the high quality and effectiveness of the workouts. And I love Jari's attitude and personality. She's fun to work out with, even though she is not really in my living room. She's a sweetheart and so encouraging.
When I started looking for another video to use for my workouts, I remembered Jari Love and really liked her in other videos I'd done. So, when I found this one on eBay, I thought I'd buy it and see how it went. This video is great. There are ways to do for beginners and then ways to work your way on up to it being very difficult. Even with the beginners workout, I really felt like I had DONE something and not just fooled around and not gotten a good workout. Every day that I do this workout, I feel great and have tons more energy. Jari is very motivating and the workout is fun.
I really like Jari Love workouts. I have 8 of them. They are tough. Some of her earlier workouts are basic weight training but I like this one because it has more cardio and compound moves.

This is one of the best circuit training DVDs I've tried. I bought it after seeing it on Fitness magazine's top ten new workout video list, and I couldn't be happier. There are four people working out in the video - one is always doing a lower impact version of each exercise and most of the time one other person is doing a more challenging version, so it's easy to follow and customize the workout to fit your fitness level. It's easy to follow whether you have a step for the cardio segments or not, since one person is always working without one. Overall this is an excellent workout regardless of fitness level and challenging enough to keep you interested and motivated.
