A long and abiding appreciation of the artist and his music led me to buy this dvd. The focus of the dvd is on the songs performed by Cream, which only represent a small portion of a tremendously eclectic body of work that Jack Bruce has created over the years. It was fascinating to get a glimpse into his musical history, his influences, inspiration and overall approach to music and the bass guitar. The anecdotes are interesting and often very amusing. I appreciated the oppportunity to get a close-up view of his technical prowess as he demonstrated each song solo on the bass and in collaboration with the guitarist and drummer, (both of whom are also superb musicians). The interplay between the three is amazing, as is the obvious joy they take in the creating of the music. I recommend this dvd highly!Read full review
OK, so this is not exactly an instructional video. Jack does demonstrate his enviable technique on the bass, but doesn't really break it down and describe in detail what he is doing. That being said, it doesn't matter. There's plenty of stuff to pick up from watching him and the bonus is the live studio perfomances by Jack along with Gary Husband on drums and the late, great Gary Moore on guitar. Together, these guys rock! They play classic Cream songs, but also leave room for some nice improvisation. It's like getting invited to a private performance by a supergroup that only a select few will ever see. My only complaint is that it ends too soon.
Actually, I didn't know it was an instructional video. I just figured it would be a great mix, Jack Bruce and Gary Moore together. I have to say I'm glad I bought it though, because with the interactive menu I can just listen to the songs, and skip the instructional part. Jack Bruce would be a good guy for a Bass player starting out to want to emulate. He plays with a lot of 3 piece bands, and he fills the gaps nicely with his Bass work.
Excellent instruction.

A very good DVD that shows Jack Bruce at its best. Working with Gary Moore on guitar and Gary Husband on drums and some intevjues between the songs, are highly recommended for all Blues-fan...
