The CPU is working fine, even though it is an engineering sample. The only caveat is that the frequency is not the same as the OEM one: the product was advertised as a 2,0 ghz cpu, with a boost clock of 2.6 ghz, but it works all the time at 2.26 ghz. Also, it looks like my unit is not adjusting dynamically its frequency. Otherwise, it works great for rendering and multi-threaded CAD software. In general usage the upgrade failed to make a noticeable difference though, speeding only the app loading time when starting up Windows (thanks to the multiple threads). In Windows, the CPU is not recognized as a "E5 2683 v3", beeing only titles as a genuine Intel CPU. (small trade off for the price) At first, the CPU had some issues with my Asus X99-a motherboard, but after setting manually the multiplier everything worked fine. Due to the fact it is a Xeon CPU, all automated overvclock systems baked in the Asus mb failed to work. The running temperature, at idle and lite computing is about 53 to 57 degrees Celsius, and under prolonged load is working at 80 degrees, while being water cooled with an AIO from Corsair. I don't know for sure what are the usual working temperatures, but considering the core density and a 120w TDP, I belive that it is fine. I wouldn't recommend using air cooling on this CPU, especial on high end systems due to the heat it dissipates constantly. Based on my experience so far (about 2 months with this CPU) I can recommend a Xeon ES CPU to anyone, especially at this price. It is a better solution than using a dual CPU motherboard. I hope it wouldn't develop any issues over time.Read full review

We have been running the E5-2670 v1 (v0) CPUs which runs around 2.9 Ghz, unlike the E5-2683 V3 which runs around 2.5 Ghz (all cores), hence we were a little unsure how well this would perform. As it turns out having the extra instruction sets such as AVX2 means it performs extremely well.

I was looking for a powerful CPU to complete my new workstation dedicated to architectural renderening. After viewing a lot of options, I decided for this piece of technology. I have to say that its performance is outstanding and it satisfies my expectations. The unit comes with some scrathes on the surface, something resonable due to its condition. Its base clockspeed is set to 2.0 Ghz but automatically rises up to 2.4 Ghz when the demand is high. I haven't tried to overclock the base clockspeed yet. My motherboard is an MSI x99 Sli Plus. No problems with the installation and the BIOS recognized the CPU automatically. My CPU fan is a Cryorig H5. It keeps the CPU in a 35°C in IDLE. Great purchase and 100% recommended chip!

Working perfectly and it truly is an OEM cpu. Incredible deal for the price. Using it on an asus x99 mobo without problems
