The computer I've been upgrading over the past week or so originally had another Pentium M clocked at 1.7 Ghz. Replacing that CPU with this one has resulted in an impressive boost in performance. Although this processor has become a bit weak compared to today's more modern ones, this was a definite improvement. It runs nice and cool at no more that 50° C, and has twice the amount of L2 cache as the one the computer came with. If you're looking to upgrade a machine with a Socket 479 from an older Pentium, this would be the way to go.

Installed in an old 32-bit Gateway MX3228 laptop. Big improvement over the stock Intel Celeron M 370 1.5Ghz FSB 400Mhz Processor 479 CPU - roughly a 50% improvement. Good value, especially when compared to the faster but costlier 765 cpu. Caution: had a difficulty installing and bent a pin. Luckily, didn't break pin...so straighten it and reinstalled. Then worked great! So take your time and ensure not to bend/break a pin.

I bought this CPU in order to upgrade an old IBM laptop I've been using as a work-bench computer. Though it's an older CPU, it's very quick running under Windows XP, and handles web browsing just fine. As it's one of the few +2.0GHz processors for the 400FSB series of CPUs, there's little to compare it to in it's class. It's fast, and does the job well for it's price. I recommend this CPU to people using this type of computer for small tasks. It makes the machine much more responsive, and keeps it alive for a few more years.
I dropped this gem into my old Dell D600 by following a video on Youtube. Worked like a charm. Moving from 1.3Ghz to 2Ghz has now my old Dell somewhat still relevant. I already had the A16 BIOs update, so no problems there. From what I read, the highest you can go is 2.1Ghz in the D600. Max is 2GB of RAM and the BIOs can only support up to a 120GB HD.
Quick ship from China. Very good packing. Made a big difference in my puter's performance. Will buy again.
