This chip is great for overclocking and just works wonderful with my computer setup. It is fast, and just one-step down from the I7 processor chips. I chose this as an affordable alternative for my I7 processor that I fried a couple of years ago but never replaced until recently. These are somewhat easy to install, but don't put them in the wrong way or you could bend your socket pins on your motherboard. The notches on this processor have a purpose, so be careful and align them properly with the socket. Overall, for this type of processor, the speed is fast, though the technology has already been replaced with a newer line of processors through Intel. As I said, I bought this for my older PC setup and it works great!

Awesome performance, very fast, Quad core, Good Base clock and Boost clock. I highly recommend this CPU. Even though it came out a few years ago, and is built on an older architecture. But it doesn't pull alot of power idle, and under load. And stays relatively low in temperature. 40C idle, 55-62C under load. Though I also hear some weird noises coming from it. Like an old fax machine. But other than that, no complaints. Amazing Price to performance, highly recommend it.

I purchased this CPU for a rig I built around an also excellent EVGA P68FTW motherboard and I'm not pleased--I am ecstatic. The combination is a winner. I contacted EVGA's excellent 24/7 Technical Support about a question I had and in the process was offered a new BIOS chip to replace the existing one that not only included a wider range of settings and updates, but also opened the possibility of using newer technology in the future should I choose to do so, like more RAM or upgrade to Haswell CPUs, but they sent it to me free of charge and it arrived quickly with very detailed instructions as to how to properly install it. I now run 16 MEG of super fast dual channel DDR3 Ripsaws and overclocking this CPU is a delight with all the possibilities available through EVGA's new SIOS GUI. The CPU has ramped up to 4.2 GHz without any problem but usually run it at either 3.5 or 4.0 MHz depending on my needs and will do it without missing a hit I love it!Read full review
I replaced the CPU on the sound system computer tied by firewire to a 32 channel digital mixer. The original ASUS H2 socket mainboard had a pentium G640 CPU in it, which was slightly slower and half the cost of an I3 at the time it was new. This processor, a major step up from the pentium, and significantly faster than the I5-2400 brought my main panel load time from 10 seconds to less than 2. It also handles all 32 tracks of record or playback with ease. (at CD quality, like it'll fill a terabyte drive up in 4 hours.) Install is easy and straight forward. Be sure to follow the instructions in the mainboard manual, and use ESD precautions. Cleanliness isn't optional, it's critical. That's 1155 connections in the area of a postage stamp.

I think this is the best purchase I made for a computer component. Even though it's been 5 years since launch, it still performs extremely well, can handle Crossfire/SLI configurations easily I'm pretty sure. Can be overclocked 4GHz+ and performs like a stock i5 4690k for half the money (I paid for). The only let down is that it's not the best at running 4k 60fps videos encoded with HEVC but if your able to have 4k video at 60 FPS (24/30 FPS works fine), then you should be able to afford an i7. Again, a really good processor!!!
