Robin Mcgraw is the wife of the famous television therapist, Dr. Phil. She is the mother of Jay and Jordan. She is very much her own woman. This book gives you a glimpse into the life of one of America's favorite families. She shares with you the life-changing moments of her childhood years in Oklahoma. She talks about the day she met Phillip McGraw and their early years together. She fondly talks about her sons, Jay and Jordan, and many adventures and episodes during their young years. She tells how she has adapted to an empty nest and supported her husband's career. She encourages women to create a life they love and to take full responsibility for their own choices. Robin shares her deep faith in God and hopes that others will be inspired to make choices that reflect their heart's truest priorities and highest goals. It is all about choices. Robin is on a mission to get you excited about your life, excited about being a woman in this day and time. I have read this book from cover to cover. I love Dr. Phil and this book is awesome. Robin really opens her heart and gives us a candid look at her life, her faith and her dreams.Read full review
The rest of the world sees him as Dr. Phil. Robin sees him as her husband (who, by the way, she calls Phillip) and she speaks candidly about life as the sole woman in an all male household. Her story about coming outside to "help" detect a noise in the family auto, getting stuck in the trunk and emerging wild-eyed and terrified to be met by her husband, asking, "So did you find the noise?" is hilarious. Part memoir, part inspiration, this is a worthy read and shows the interior life of a person who has often seemed to be in the shadow of her husband (although I think it was her choice and she was fully supportive of him). Now it is her turn to shine!
I purchased this book after seeing Robin when she and Dr. Phil kicked off the book on the Dr. Phil show. He was as excited about the book as was Robin. I love the way he supported her and the fact that she is in his TV audience every day. Inside My Heart is really easy to read...and the stories that Robin tells flow so easy and freely from Robin's heart to the printed page. I could really identify with Robin while reading the book. I have been married for 46 years to a wonderful man. My daughters have not been as fortunate at finding a good man for a husband. Having lost both of my parents, I could really identify with the feelings that Robin expressed after loosing her parents. And, it is ok to cry. I really think that any woman, young or older, married or contemplating marriage or just want more from their relationship. I wish that both my daughters could have read Inside My Heart before they choose a husband. Maybe they both would not have had their self esteem so badly injured. I am going to be sure they both have a copy of Inside My Heart. I encourage all women to read Inside My Heart....I don't think they will ever be sorry. Thank you, Robin, for writing and pouring out your heart. Sincerely.....ReanRead full review
This book was really inspirational, if your having a rough time in your life this book offers a lot of encouragement, and even if your life is going great at the moment this book offers insight on how to keep it that way or ways to make it even better. By reading this book you can tell that Robin is a spiritual and intellegent woman I really loved this book and highly reccommend it to anyone, in fact I passed it along to a friend that needed some encouragement right now. I decided to buy it because every time Dr. Phil went to Robin for comments on the show, I always was amazed at her responses and agreed with her, even if I don't always agree with Dr. Phil. And the book was so good I could'nt put it down and read it in 2 days. I hope this helps you decide that if your reading this review then you need to read this book.Read full review
I loved this book! I purchased it because I have watched Robin McGraw from a distance, so to speak, taking a "back seat" on the Doctor Phil Show, as she is called on periodically to share her insight or teach someone basic life lessons. In the book she tells some of her "life story" as it pertains to the way she has chosen to live her life, some, not popular with the worlds view on women, children, husbands and "the family". For example, the world (media, feminists etc.) tells women, "faith, home, family, children, husbands, are burdens-life should be about YOU"! Robin, through sharing her experiences, has demonstrated that having a husband, being faithful to him, and working to make him happy, not forgetting self, establishes a foundation for building a family on faith. That doing the small thing,s make good memories, and instead of being a burden, give you wings to fly, and shows that a moral life is a solid foundation to build upon. Listen-I could go on but, reading this one is recommended reading for all women who want faith, home, children, husband as part of their life, it will help squelch out the noise of "the world" on this subject that is the foundation that influences our society. Read it! You'll love it!)Read full review
