This exercise stand is as rugged as the best ones in the local bike shop, at half the price. This one comes with the rear skewer which you have to have to install it. The one in the bike shop doesn't and is an extra charge. I weigh 250 lbs. and it handles me just fine. easy set up. I did add a smooth tire to the rear to keep from over wearing the knobby tire I usually use, at the recommendation of my bike shop pro. Glad I did.

I have another, similar bike trainer with a better built resistance apparatus. This unit has very little difference in the settings from 1 to 7. I have adjusted it with limited success. My girlfriend is a former Olympian rower and uses this machine, but it does not live up to our expectations.

I find I cant use this early in the morning due to the noise generated. I tried wrapping the spool contact surface with electrical tape and it has helped somewhat. I suspect that the tire tread has more to do with the noise than the stand. Aside from being a bit noisy, it is a very stable and compact design.

This is what I was looking for to get some exercise during the winter months. It was very easy to put together, the instructions were simple and straightforward. But, I think I probably could have set it up with out instructions ( And I'm a woman) It comes folded up, unfolds to a triangle shape, and where the back tire of the bicycle rests, is easy to adjust up or down to fit the tire. The knobs on the stand unscrews so the back wheel sets in place, and you can tighten the knobs to hold the center of back tire. Very simple. I was worried that it would be complicated or need screwdriver or some other tools to assemble it. Great sturdy bicycle stand, glad I took the chance and ordered it.

Works great! Bought 2, relatively quiet, very sturdy. The gear cable is very long so it needs to be wrapped around bike frame if needed. This trainer, like stated, works for quick release rear tires. However, my husband had to work around my rear tire set up since it isn't quick release; the connection is tapered, which didn't accommodate the nut on my tire. But he made it work and it is still sturdy.
