As a student, I find this book one of the better books you'll read in college. It's actually really interesting because the author analyzes his 5 year experience living in Harlem during the late 80s and early 90s during the peak of crack dealing. Bourgois shares the nitty gritty details of what it's like being a dealer but most especially of what it's like living in the ghetto. I highly recommend this book!
This book was required reading. However, the book is very disturbing. Unless the book is required reading, don't bother.
