I'm not a big fan of war movies in general, but this one was well constructed, accurate in detail, and had some particularly good acting. Patricia Neal was very good in her role as was Brandon de Wilde in his. I've never been a big fan of John Wayne, mostly because of his political views, but he did a good job here, and I have to say that his acting was on target. The movie takes place in Hawaii and on the high seas surrounding Hawaii, on and in the aftermath of December 7th, 1941, which some of you probably remember to be Pearl Harbor Day, when the Empire of Japan marked that Sunday morning to "live in Infamy" as an example of base treachery, rivaled in world history only by the examples of today's terrorists, who are cut from the same cloth as the Japanese kamikaze pilots, whose demise was no loss to the world at all The movie is in Black and White, and I am not fond of B/W movies in general, but it's executed so well that you scarcely notice. All in all, I'd recommend it highly to anyone interested in vintage movies.Read full review
Everything I hoped it would be as a DVD, vivid, bright, viewing so much better than my VHS tape of the movie.
