Young readers will want to play-act this one out." - Deseret News, There is no doubt that the mighty tiger and the great crocodile rule the wilds of India. But when the fuzzy tiger kitten and the baby crocodile have a showdown, the only thing that is ferocious is their posturing. The two babies romp about in the water and on land as they argue about who has the sharper claws and teeth, who is stealthier, and who is scarier. Both are all bravado until they look around and can't find their moms. Scared and lost, the two are giddy to be quickly found by their large and much more imposing mothers who, both little ones agree, are actually the scariest things in the jungle. The watercolor illustrations, warm jungle colors, and cartoon style contribute to the sweetness and safety of this fierce-off. The font color is different for each animal so that your child can easily identify who is talking...It's a wonderful device that works very well. You learn all kinds of things about the behavior and habitats of each animals... Eventually, the youngsters realize they have strayed too far into the jungle alone, and just who is the scariest thing in the jungle. I won't spoil the ending for you. I just love the rivalry between the tiger and the crocodile... it is humorous and oh so cute as a combination at the same time. I think that as a teacher I really appreciate the dialogue between the characters. I would use it as an example of how to mix in information into dialogue in addition to discussing how there is a fun whip-smart argument that occurs through the book. The illustrations additionally bring this book to life in a surprising way, with a combination of fierce creatures warning you to stay away but simultaneously the characters are quite cute." - Styling Librarian, "Though we both enjoyed this story, what really won us over was the illustrations.
