HILARIOUS film! Some X-rated language, but other than that, this would make a great family film. Charlotte Church's singing voice is phenomenal; Jenna Redgrave has all the talent and looks one has come to expect from a member of that 'film family;' Craig Ferguson has GREAT comedy timing; and all the supporting actors are superb. Very well-written, well-directed film -- unlike an earlier bomb of Ferguson's called 'The Big Tease;' the two films are like night and day! I highly recommend this film -- viewers are bound to have a good time with this one!
Miss Church's first movie lead role. Gave her a chance to show her good acting ability but also, of course, her beautiful voice. She performed religious as well as popular songs. The story of a child reared by her mother who finally gets to know her father has been done many times. This version is very well done with plenty of music, comedy, drama, and tears. Recommended to any current or soon-to-be fan of Charlotte Church.
A fun family movie. Craig Ferguson puts in a fun and poignant performance as a father that never new he was. Charlotte Church is a believable teen who as most teens, would like to get her parents back together yet be able to live her own life. Jemma Redgrave rounds out the cast with the portrayal of a woman who still loves the father of her child but is angry at the same time for the treatment she believes he did to both her and her daughter. A wonderfully funny movie a must see for the whole family with hilarious moments from Craig Ferguson as we in America have come to expect from a truly talented comedian.
After watching Craig Ferguson on his Late Late Show, I had to check out his acting career. This movie is about parent/child, parent/parent relationships. Through Mr. Ferguson's writing & natural acting we see his character go from rock bottom to everything that is good in life. Sometimes hysterical, sometimes sad, & sometimes so close to home that you'll just have to hit the "pause" button to remember that this is just a movie. Mr. Ferguson shines in a script that gives hope to all. The supporting cast were perfect.
I am a fan of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, but had only seen 1 or 2 of his movies before buying this. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was basicly a slightly strange and funny romantic comedy. Aging rocker (Craig Ferguson) finds out he has a daughter that he hadn't known about for almost 20 years, and against her mother's wishes, tries to spend time with his newly discovered daughter, who, coincidentally, happens to have a killer singing voice. This is a cute and funny movie that should bring a smile to everyone's face, wether you're a Ferguson fan or not.
