This melodic Christian band has been producing thought-provoking music for some time that is easy to listen to and is usually catchy. They make intricate melodies sound easy to play; they make complexity simple. Their music is smooth acoustic pop that might best be enjoyed by those who are mostly melancholy in personality. Goodbye, Goodnight is a strange and awkward beginning that somehow works as it introduces the cd to the listener. Unforgetful You is a peppy ballad that still has a raw garage-band feel. No One Loves Me Like You is another insistance upon God's love for all, as is the equally encouraging I'm Alright. This cd is less dark than Frail before it and has less minor chord arrangements. It is more upbeat, both lyrically and musically, than its predecessor. Although this cd doesn't have the same consistency as their first, it is still a fine effort. As with most of their works, the significance of each song might be more dependent upon personal circumstances than upon the quality of the song itself.Read full review
Released in 1999, "If I Left The Zoo" was originally slatted to be called "If I Ran The Zoo" but it was changed since it conflicted with a Dr. Suess title. The band's third album contains 11 tracks, highlighted by the song "Unforgetful You", which also appeared in the film Drive Me Crazy (1999). Other tracks to look out for are No One Loves Me Like You, Grace, I'm Alright, and Can't Erase It. There is also a little known factoid on the Jars of Clay track, "Hand." The same song was covered in 1998 by Christian artist Jonathan Noel in his album entitled...Hand. If I Left The Zoo is a worthy follow-up to the self-titled album and Much Afraid. Similar to it's predecessors, If I Left The Zoo is another great album which you can just pop into your player and not have to worry about it for the next 40 minutes. But don't just take my word for it, get your own copy today!Read full review
1999 release from Jars. While all Jars albums are moving rock based Christian original songs, this album has a decidedly new age feel to it. Love the album and it's catchy rifts. One of their best!
I PURCHASED THIS CD FOR MY GRANDAUGHTER BECAUSE KIDS NEED GOOD POSITIVE MUSIC. THE GROUP IS WELL KNOW IN CHRISTIAN CIRCLES AND ACCEPTABLE IN MY HOME.
