This guitar is a shredder's dream. The S5470 is extremely comfortable to play thanks to the combination of: low action, a floating bridge set low in the body, a very thin neck, and a shockingly thin mahogany body (thinner than the body associated with the 22 fret neck). Though I've replaced the stock pickups with DiMarzios, the Hot Grinders are very good. And if all this weren't enough to trigger salivation, the S5470 is also quite the looker to boot! Problems with the guitar are minimal. Yes, the sustain could be better; however, this has more to do with the pickups than the guitar itself, so if you were planning to swap out the stock pups you'd basically eliminate the sustain issues (this is especially true of the single coil from what I've read). And even if you decide to keep the stock pickups, a good amp will compensate to a point. My biggest personal complaint is that I wish the S5470 came in HH configuration in addition to HSH. I don't generally use the single coil pickup so I wish Ibanez would go back to providing the Humbucker/Humbucker configuration. This, of course, is an idiosyncratic preference and not a problem with the guitar per se.Read full review
What a fantastic guitar. Fast, thin neck, beautiful finish and sound. True quality from the finish to the guitar case itself. This is a light weight guitar than is fun to play and lends itself more towards the metal marina.
A top notch guitar. Great price, looks, sound, this is truly a work of art and a wonderful memory maker!
