I bought this book on the recommendation of a crisis center case worker. I am so glad I did! Before I finished the book, I knew where the blame lay in my daughter's case. It really helped me identify where my husband and I had been snowed, just as our daughter had. If I had read this book before, this never would have happened to my family! Sexual predators are abundant in this world, much more so than most people want to believe. The numbers, horrible as they are (1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are molested before the age of 18!), I believe are much higher in actuality. There are way too many that go unreported, especially in the case of older teen girls. They are written off as tramps, or even as normal sexually active teens! I believe this book should be required reading for every parent, BEFORE their children have a chance to be molested. You can keep your kids safe, without being paranoid or rude - just keeping healthy boundaries for you and your child, and being aware. Read it and share it - I bought 2 and started the 2nd one through my group of friends. Even the teen girls are reading it - it's just a sound and healthy attitude toward life. It will help you learn about boundaries and how to stay safe!Read full review
This is a very valuable book that provides a great deal of information in a readable format. Should be useful both to clinicians and to people who are concerned about the characteristics of child molesters. Talks about grooming the child, the parents, and the community to accept problematic behaviors without questioning. Much more readable than the typical "professional" book so it is not a struggle requiring coping with multiple citations in every paragraph.
