From the good old days (which I actually wasn't around for) your phaser wouldn't make everything in rhythmic shifting sounds, what they now call "phase shifting". This just adds a layer of modulation like an extra space on a keyboard. Some may call them "weak" but the sounds do not have to be subtle get a good distortion or two and you can melt some faces off. This review has been geared to noise, experimental, heavy metal, and ambient musicians. If you are a straight ahead musician who plays by the book I don't really know what to tell you other than this will add one of two different modulations (not both at the same time, although I've done switching back and worth that sounds really good) over your original sound source. It a solid metal box you can beat this thing and it will still swash and swooosh like a dream.Read full review

I'm still learning the finer points of what makes a good phaser for guitar, and at this point I'm more concerned with what produces a subtle enhancement when a phaser is placed before distortion, overdrive, and fuzz pedals. That said, the "level" knob adjusts the blend or intensity of the phase effect, which does allow the kind of control that I'm looking for. However, I still haven't found a phaser that facilitates truly intuitive tweaking. So, what I can say at this point is that this is a useful product that produces reasonably clean results. There are devices with fancier settings, and there are simpler ones. But, this is worth having when the price is right.
I have always liked BOSS and Ibanez effects pedals. They both can use the same power supply which makes it easy. I can mix and match them on my pedal board. I really like the Ibanez Phase Shifet. It is totally pro sounding and very warm. The phase is a thick, creamy tone, not thin like from cheap pedals who's brand starts with a "D". This pedal is EASY to use and has the retcactable knobs, so you can set a tone, push the buttons in and not worry about the setting being changed during transport. Ibanez pedals are legendary and a big bang for the buck !
I LOVE that this pedal has a level on it so I can determine just how much volume of phaser effect to mix into the overall sound. I LIKE that the phaser effect is warm and that there is no popping sound when activating the pedal. Battery access is right on top so I don't have to remove the pedal from the pedal board to change battery.
sweet sound, good quality audio. the buttons are a bit small, but overall its built well. the range on the speed is good, it goes from a slow warble to a fast pace. with the feedback turned up it can do some amazing techo sounds. I'd buy it again if I lost it.
