I bought this book and CD on eBay for a friend who has trouble sleeping through the night. Some sleeping habits are learned naturally; and some are bad habits. This book is light enough to at least introduce an "insomniac" to develop a curiosity about how to sleep better. On the plus side, McKenna introduces tested and effective methods for progressive muscle relaxation, breathing meditation, visualization, and stress relief. His "touch points" technique is worth a try. And his books with CDs are marketed everywhere. His CD presentation, however, is abbreviated, and lacks depth found in other resources. His muscle relaxation topic, for example, quickly moves from the foot to the ankle to the knee & on up to the neck where more traditional methods go toe-to-toe etc. at a slower and more relaxed pace. Still, his survey of how to approach sleep issues is mainstream and will help develop more effective sleeping habits without wading through all the whys and wherefores found in more developed programs. If you're working with someone who habitually shows up stressed out from lack of restful sleep, this book & CD may be a good way to win a new friend. It'll help 'em sort out their bad habits and get back on the right track with helpful suggestions, like: turn the TV off and take some quiet time to relax before bedtime.Read full review

This was for my Mom, she's using it and it seems to be helping her. She also has the I Can Make you Thin book and likes it too. Her physician recommended the I Can Make you Thin and thats how she got started on Paul McKenna.
