Excellent saw. Pros: Light weight; very, very good fuel economy; good power to wt ratio; the easiest to start chain saw I've ever touched; if I follow my routine, using the primer and the compression release, it starts on the 2nd, sometimes 1st, pull, without fail; it has never failed to start easily; the see-through oil and gas tanks; the air filter is incredibly efficient, much better than a comparable Stihl. (less emptying); and finally, best of all, the anti-vibe works very well, lessening fatigue and therefore reducing danger. Cons: Very few, but here they are: The build quality is not as robust as a comparable Stihl. The Husky is a tad more "plastick-y" in feel. Not much though. And a minor con: It only has one bar retaining screw. That does not affect anything. I just happen to prefer the look of 2 screws.Read full review
I had an OLD Homelite 240 that I loved, and it lasted a long time. I took down many trees with that thing (occasional user), but it finally gave up the ghost. I wanted something I'd buy just once and it would last me 20 years or so, and by all the research I've seen, that leaves two popular choices, Husqvarna or Stihl. Echo probably would have worked too, but for some reason isn't nearly as popular. Stihl just isn't available at a discount anywhere, so I bought the Husky. It's a great saw, practically no vibration, typical to maybe slightly lower noise levels than normal, and seems to have plenty of power (but mine needed a bit of tuning). Idles great, looks nice, and should last me forever. I love the starting compression reduction feature. I didn't think I'd care, but after using this, I think it would require a really big pull to start it without. This saw really feels solid. Craftsmanship is excellent, and I know the difference.Read full review
Saw runs and cuts well. It sometimes lugs down in heavy wood but i am more comfortable with a saw that has less torque. The easy start system is complicated for the first initial uses and the bar has only one nut holding it in place which may well suffice however i am used to two. I bought this item because it was supposed to be brand new, not a return or reconditioned unit and was suprised to see a Lowes sticker on the chainsaw. Makes one wonder???
I bought this saw for limbing trees that I use for fire wood. It has proven to be a wise decision! Mine has a 18" bar on it and it works fine, but I think the 16" bar would be a better choice for the number of cc's it has. It cuts thru some of the bigger stuff I cut quite well, but I can stop the chain if I force it much. I have a stihl ms310 with a 20" bar on it that I use for the bigger stuff, but personally I think the 445 is built just as well as the stihl. The chainbrake is not as smooth, but other than that there is no difference between the 2 if you take everything into consideration. It seems to be very well built and very strong. The x-torq motor has lots of power and it is slightly quieter than my stihl. Right out of the box it started on the 3rd pull! For a brand new saw I think that is a tribute to the workmanship. There seems to be a lot less vibration than most of the other saws I have run. Before I bought this saw I researched some saws that I had in mind. This saw was one of them and it has so far lived up to its reputation. Power, low vibration, smooth running, fast cutting, and compression release were touted as some of the advantages of it and there was no exaggeration on any of them. I am very happy with my purchase and will maybe look at a 570 when my stihl gives up the ghost! That says a lot coming from a devout stihl man that has never had any problems with his stihls! If the bigger husqvarnas handle and cut like this one, I will switch to them. Just the less vibration makes it worth it. You dont have to pry your hands off the saw at the end of the day with them. Thanks for a good saw at a reasonable price!Read full review
This Husqvarna 445 with a 18inch cut is by far outstanding ! Has the power needed for the big jobs of cutting wood or ice ! Not to heavy. I cut a 24" base tree down for fire wood, ran 4 tanks of gas none stop till completely done, with 16inch sections to be split ! I was tired . I've had others saws but this is by far a great chainsaw ! Oh keep additive in your gas always and when stored away or drain fuel completely.
