This is a good book for helping get some details right in disassembly. Of course it does not point out exactly what is needed for a numbers matching restoration or modification, but that is not this books point. It does a good job doing a proper teardown and rebuild especially if you have a book on modifying the big block . The only negatives would be any work on "six pack" style cars. There was also an indication in the book about Hemi's. The Hemi is so unique that it needs it's own book. I rated it high as it helped in a few areas and saved me the purchase price on a few details. A good buy.

I bought this book because I was told it had unique information. After a cover to cover reading I discovered that it did not follow it's original theme. A hot rod engine turned out to be a 383 2 bbl engine review. I wanted to see the stage V heads and better machining examples. I could have got the exact information out of a Chiltons. I would not buy a Taylor book again without previewing it first at the library, then only if it had something I didn't already know, or I wanted to archive for later. Might be great for a beginner High School class.
This book has a wealth of information. Highly recommended if one is rebuilding a vintage molar big block. I will be employing it frequently.
