Told in a sort of flashback format, How I Met Your Mother follows the story of Ted (Josh Radner) and his group of friends, Marshall (Jason Segel), Lily (Alison Hannigan) and the ever hip Barney (Neil Patrick Harris). Ted is searching for romance in New York City when he falls for the lovely Robin (Cobie Smulders), who isn't quite ready for a big relationship, despite a strong attraction. Over the course of the first season, we follow Ted and company through many a hilarious night, including Barney and Marshall's karaoke binge with Korean Elvis, Ted's meeting a mysterious woman at a wedding who he subsequently falls for, and a hysterical look at Barney in his pre-suit era thanks to the arrival of a mystery tape from an old paramour.
In a time when most people thought the live action situation comedy was dead. How I Met Your Mother comes along and proves that theory dead wrong. I saw a couple of episodes on CBS.com and in a matter of mere days I bought Season One. This series made me laugh in a way, I have not laughed since Friends. The series is about Ted Moseby retelling the story of how we met his children's mother. However, it is unclear that these kids he is retelling his story to are even his kids. During the telling of his story Ted tells about his experiences in New York City with his friends. Now, for people who despise narrations, despised Friends, and or despise freeze frames. This series isn't for you. But if you enjoyed Friends you'll enjoy this series.
I love this show. It is so hysterical and has such witty sayings that you can't help but get stuck in your head. I look for opportunities to say things like, "Legendary", "Suit Up", and "Swarley". I love how the flashbacks to their college days are the late 90's. I was listening to all the music they were back then. I dressed the same way... it's a total flashback to my late teens. If you appreciate quirky humor and off the wall catch phrases, this is the show for you. I can't wait till Season 2 drops in price. I'm sooooo gettin' it.
The best show with the longest name is now available to watch over and over again on your DVD. HIMYM successfully takes the baton from the popular show Friends, and runs towards the finish line of great comedy shows of this generation. Cry with Ted and his pursuit of the Slutty Pumpkin. Laugh with Marshall trying to recapture his youth in the club scene. Be shocked that Barney helps out at a homeless shelter. You will get your share of "laugh out louds" from this 3 disc set, guaranteed.
Absolutely love this show. I reccomend it to everyone. And I got my husband to love it. Was honestly a great price.
