I really wanted the German Hofner, and have had one in the past, but after owning and playing the Chinese version, I'm not wanting that costly model anymore. I play gigs regularly and the CT bass sees all kinds of weather and abuse and holds up very well. Of course I keep wiping it down and I take care of it-right down to buying one of the new CT Club cases Hofner is starting to make. Let's face it, gig bags don't cut it. The best part of this bass is the tone. This Chinese Club has everything the German model does tone wise. Another thing is how light this bass is to hold and play-you really forget you've got it on. After a 4 hour gig, that really makes a difference. My bandmates love the sound and the look of this 4 stringer! The neck is exactly like the one on the Beatle bass model-so you know. Highly rated.Read full review
Mine is a very nicely made guitar, lightweight, quality solid wood semi-hollow construction. Build on mine seems flawless for fit/finish. I do believe that these sound best through a good fender or vox amp. Pickups are high quality Hofner diamond mini humbuckers, not some cheaper knockoffs. Love mine. Gorgeous mop vine inlay in headstock.

Classic Hofner sound! It's a great brush for my "canvas." Sounds warm, wooden, almost like an upright bass. The weighted body also gives it a nice sturdy feel (from a man used to playing fenders). Overall can't complain.
Great sound and easy to play. Especially for a guitarist.
