My Acer laptop came with a pretty standard 500gb, 5400rpm hard drive. I've had good luck with HGST drives in the past, and the higher rpm rating meant the reads should be just that tiny bit faster. I cloned my old drive onto the new unit using a USB-SATA adapter. Then opened up the case and physically swapped the drives. After reassembly, and a brief prayer, I hit the power. The laptop came right up, booting noticeably faster than before the swap. It's not an SSD, but I consider the added storage space to be more than a compensating factor. After hammering on the new configuration for the last week, I am extremely pleased with this choice. The drive is fast and quiet, and it will take me quite some time to come anywhere close to needing any more room. Recommended.

I’ve used a few of these. Some to backup my MacBooks. Also used one on my Xbox. Works just as fast as an internal drive over its usb 3. Price and value there. And reliable. Just get it.
