I used this silicone to make a 2 part mold and it performed perfectly. I have made several castings and it has held up great, looking like it did before I poured my first resin in it. I dissolved a 50/50 mixture of petroleum jelly and mineral spirits to make a mold release agent, brushing a very thin layer on the first half of the mold and then poured the second half of the silicone. I let the silicone cure overnight and the two halves of the mold separated from each other easily, with no sticking at all. This mold/casting was used to reproduce an extremely rare egg that is almost always missing from the Revell Dr. Seuss Horton the Elephant model kit manufactured in 1960.

have tried to make a medallion mold out of two part silicon putty but could not get the detail as I got out of this 2 part silicon. The liquid silicon mold was softer than the putty mold but handled lead temps very well.

I prefer the professional method of creating a thin layer of silicone with cheese cloth substructure and keys, and then a plaster mother mold. This stuff works great for this process.
