First shown in the US on BBC America in 2006, it's now out on DVD. First of all, this is nothing like Charmed or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The only similarities are that they all have a supernatural theme. I personaly really liked this show. In fact, I even bought season 2 from the UK in region 2 format to see how it plays out (I have a region free dvd player). The lead of Cassie is played by Christina Cole, who is not only talented but really hot. It has drama, suspence, action, off beat humor, etc. Overall, a good, refreshing series to watch
HEX has a problem. The writers did not "think through" things, and the director apparently didn't think about it as much as try to put the glossy top layer on in such a way you did not realize there were glaring issues with the plot, physical, emotional, and moral behaviors, and sometimes the thinkers in the audience were going "What was THAT?" Good, entertaining, but flawed underneath. Minor example: If a ghost can pick up a bag of potato chips and eat the chips in a room where she is invisible to everyone except her friend, does the bag of chips become invisible or does everyone just not notice a floating bag of chips and the munching sounds? If grasping the bag makes it go invisible, what about other items grasped? Do books, chairs, et cetera, vanish, and if so, how come no one notices? If she is invisible how come no one ever sits on her-- or walks through her? She can touch and manipulate objects except for the ability to touch her friend? She can touch and eat things, move objects, but not touch the one person near to her-- so she has to visit her in her dreams? If you go through the plot the holes keep getting bigger and bigger, the problems grow until it gets in the way of even watching it, so beware. This is a story that "should be watched and not thought about." .Read full review
If you like British television shows or are wanting to watch something different this is a great series,it is one of my favorites. It falls into the drama/horror genre and covers a wide variety of today's topics in-between. Very mature/adult theme but nothing over the top, this has appeared on BBC America. The actors all nail their parts for the characters they portray, my personal favorite is the character Thelma Bates(a lesbian ghost) with a wickedly funny sense of humor. The overall story is a battle between good/evil and the end of the world and it's up to a group of private school students to stop it.As they do try to stop it, there are changes in the cast line-up and changes in the characters that I never saw coming. After a few episodes I was hooked. This two disk set will introduce you to all the characters of the series with complete back stories about them. The only downside to the series is that it was cancelled only after two seasons on television.I recommend the series to anyone wanting to watch something a "brit" different.Read full review
I just happen to catch the show HEX while channel surfing last year, and just got hooked on the show. While it may seem a knock off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer it's Really NOT! It's much different and by far more erotic then Buffy ever got. I still don't get how a ghost can eat food and have to open doors but I guess it's because I'm not British. Christina Cole is awesome in this series and so other the other actors and actresses.
I love this show, it's a shame they only made seasons. The story line is very engaging & the characters are great. 😃
