As with most any wireless printer, and I've had many over the years, all HP, the wireless radio is crap. Other than that, which is a big issue, these 8600's are really nice printers. On mine(several) I've always used HP ink until this last one in which I used LD Products ink. Same quality of final print. I have always used better than average paper so that helps with the printed end result. not sure why HP printers have such crappy wireless radios but all of the last six HP inkjet's have had defective wireless radios. I have one HP wireless Laserjet that does work correctly. For me, an ethernet connection works fine in most instances as long as I can get to it through a wireless router and wifi from the computer. I can see this being a major issue if you need to connect a printer to your router, wirelessly. Then it's a hope and pray issue which, after 15-years of wireless HP printer issues, I have yet to resolve. I am lucky enough to be able to stick with ethernet and/or USB. Usually the former.Read full review

I have been trying to get this printer to accept a new printhead but it will not. I have wasteful my money. The seller warrants there poorly refurbished product only if you follow special instructions but fails to include any ikind of instruction in their shabbily packaged and dent without inspection nor testing. This product does not work with any printhead. I was stupid to buy it. Don't be like me and just buy a new printer and don't trust this refurbished and non-functioning product.

We ordered the HP OfficeJet 8600 to complement a number of other HP8600's in our office. the printer arrived and we started to install the printer with the disk provided which was HP8600. After an hour of difficulty in setting it on our secure network we ran a information page, only to find out that it was an HP8610 requiring different software from all of our other printers. We downloaded the appropriate software for the HP8610, installed it on the secure network and it runs like a clock. It would appear that HP8610 software was installed in the HP8600 and sold as a new printer.

There is a lot of good to say about the printer and features, which can be found all over the internet, as I did my research and decided that this was he printer to buy. So I will not use this opportunity to highlight those things. You can find all the glowing reviews out there, but BUYER BEWARE IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO USE THE SCANNER FOR DOCUMENT SCANNING!!! I was originally going to purchase an HP LaserJet, and also a Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner. I WISH I HAD WENT AHEAD AND SPENT THE EXTRA MONEY, AND NOT BOUGHT THE HP OFFICEJET PRO 8600 PREMIUM. If you plan to use this to scan documents frequently, DO NOT BUY IT, AS IT WILL FRUSTRATE YOU TO NO END!!! You CANNOT find a good balance between output quality and overall file size with the scanner with the software included. I have spent all of my time scanning documents, and then having to use online file compression software to try to reduce the size. I have used some higher end HP printers that do an excellent job on scanning in reference to file size and output quality, but obviously this is where HP made it's cuts on this printer. You will have to purchase additional software like Adobe Acrobat Pro to be content with the scanner performance. Google the scanner problem and you will see many complaints about it. I unfortunately did not see them before I purchased, or I WOULD NOT HAVE DONE SO!!! I have spent numerous hours trying to weak it with the included software, and the range goes from horrible quality to huge file sizes. Just an example, the best I could do with a 12 page black and white file is about 7 MB File Size, and that is sacrificing some quality. We are talking average quality at best with this file size. You can reduce the file size a 10-15% more with file compression software, but again it drops the quality. No value in this printer for me, just another purchase I regret for not spending the extra money to get a separate printer and scanner. Everything else, I am happy with, but the scanner is absolute garbage. BEWARE, THERE ARE ONE OR TWO OTHER MAJOR FLAWS ON THIS PRINTER (THERE ARE A COUPLE OTHER THINGS THAT FRUSTRATE OTHERS, BUT MY ISSUE WITH IT IS THE SCANNER), SO THERE IS A REASON YOU GET IT AT A DISCOUNT, AND IT IS FOR THIS REASON!!!Read full review
I love this printer, last one like this I used for 3 years and I print, scan and copy all day long. I have found this particular printer to be of good value as the ink lasts a really long time and that is very important to me because of time, costs etc.
