This is an excellent reference book. With the vast amount of information that you can acquire online these days. This book does a thorough job of explaining and helping you with your family medical problems. What I love about this book is that it's the go to. You don't have to log on or search vast amounts of information. You simply look at the index and go to the page. Or if you have a symptom you look at the symptom and it asks you questions to help you make informed decisions about your health. This book is invaluable. After my paperback copy wore out I searched high and low for this book. This is invaluable and a asset for any home. Sure there are new treatments however; the conditions of the body do not change therefore; this book is timeless.
I love this book because it has answers to lots of questions that lurk in every family. Exactly what is diabetes, how does it work, am I at risk? etc. It is a nice thick book that is very organized. It is written for the High School level and beyond as many middle school and below students could have difficulty grasping some of the information and concepts completely. This book could quite probably answer all of the general questions about family medicine that you care to ask. It is by no means a substitute for a good physician but the information empowers you to be willing to ask more advanced and detailed questions from your health care provider if necessary.
Very informative descriptions with many diagrams/pictures. I found the explanations were also easy to understand. The best thing about it is the source, Harvard Medical School. In summation, this book will have everything you were looking for in a reference guide.
With 1,288 pages of information, it is a very useful guide to nearly every health question and medical problem. Very good choice for ones printed library related to medical issues.
Excellent book. Everyone should have a copy for thier home. A lot of information right at your finger tips.
