I discovered this artist on You Tube on a video posted by someone in the UK. The first song I heard is a cover of the song Teardrop in which he shows off his "guitar tapping skills"! After I heard his other songs, I instantly fell in love with his music. I had not heard the song Straight To The Sun before I bought the CD but it may be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. He has not made it big in the US but he may well be on his way. I saw that he was on Jay Leno not too long ago. What a unique and talented singer/song writer/ musician!! He write such meaningful and passionate lyrics. I can "chill out" or listen to this while I am at my desk and my state of mind is instantly improved. If you like acoustic guitar and songs with a message, you need to give this one a try!
Newton Faulkner is a brilliant songwriter with killer pipes! He is not just another Western pop singer who will be easily replaced. He has a unique perspective and sound, and he has found quite a unique way to play the guitar (watch some of his videos . . . he's not your average guitar-playing joe). Yay!
My wife and Met him and saw his performance in Denver. Great guy and puts on a great live show. The show was completely acoustic and he is a great guitarists, as well as a true performer. His songs are novel and really make you think.
This guy has such a cool range of song styles. His guitar playing is oustanding as well. His guitar style reminds me alot of Kaki King, only with a little more reggae influence. I bought this CD because I wanted to hear more of his music, having heard his big hit "Dream Catch Me" on the radio. I'm glad I did.
If you are looking for a good acoustic album with uplifting lyrics and a sweet voice, Newton can definitely deliver that for you. Personally I enjoy him as back ground music, I like a little more soul when I really want to listen to something, but he is very soothing and sweet.
