This is a cheap way to make the fan you like into a fan with a remote. We found some cool old looking fans for our old farm house on sale but they were not remote controlled. Bought this and wired it in and it works great. The wiring is pretty basic, just make sure the power is off first.

A roof leak fried the remote receiver in my Altura 56" Home Decorators ceiling fan. (Hampton Bay) It was a 169.00 fan! I tried this receiver and it works like new. You can buy it without the remote too, but don't do it - the old remote won't work with the new receiver, so get the set. This saved me 120+ bucks by not having to replace the whole fan!

Fan just died, checked it with a voltmeter and knew it was getting power, but the receiver wasn't allowing it to start and run. Bought this kit (old remote doesn't work with new receiver so buy the kit with them both!) and had it working again in 5 minutes. Awesome! Thanks a bunch for a great product at a great price!
