Hamilton has long been known for cheap musical products aimed at the school-level musician. As a pro I was looking for a stand that is highly configurable as it is quite common to double or triple on a gig (or more) so I was really looking for a stand that could configure from one horn to as many as four. Most pros use the Hercules stands for good reason - you could run over them with your car and not break them. I was pleasantly surprised by the Hamilton System X. It is very heavy duty (feels a lot like a Hercules) and highly configurable - the height of the bell, width of the bell and height and angle of the rest are all independently adjustable. This is terrific for something like a curved soprano. They can all connect so I made a system that can hold up to four horns and an EWI all in one stand but can easily break down to a single stand for other gigs. I would not, however, recommend their soprano peg (which doubles as a trumpet holder). The issue is that it is too tall and easily tips the entire stand over if bumped hard enough.Read full review
