I am a former blackberry & then android user. The phone I had before the 8X was a S3, this is my first Windows phone. It will be stupid for me to compare the S3 with the 8X head on. The HTC 8X has an awsome feel once you hold it in your hand, you don't want to put it down, the design is just the best, the screen Graphics are excellent with a very bright but natural color, the androids have this videogame overboosted color compared to the X8. The ease of operations on daily most used apps are very straight forward and quicker, the HTC 8X works fast going from a page to the next or going from one app to the other or closing & opening apps compared with the S3 & other BB and androids. The battery life is very good, I will go 1+ day on a charge, on the S3 I had to charge at least 2 times a day. My opinion is that for my style the windows phone is a better phone for me, or if you are somebody who uses your phone for communication, or sosial media, office work, on the go type, not very gadgets and gamer and deep into playing around & disecting the OS, this is the much better phone. If you are a smartphone GURU type, and you sit all day going online & downloading all sorts of apps & games & videos & music & movies & ringtones etc etc customizing then the androids Galaxy S3 is a much better for you.Read full review
If you are open minded and want to try a different OS system, this is the phone to have. Windows OS it's easy to use, fast and no lag at all. Very good camera, front and back. Other phones in this caliper will be Nokia 925 and up, but also it will cost you more. This phone is light, size is perfect. I am not saying this phone it's better than "android or IOS". I am saying: for a windows phone, this is the one to get. ***warning*** You need to upgrade to 8.1. If you can't upgrade, then windows its stock in old software.
I really didn't get to use the phone because I needed it to travel outside of the US. The sim card size was not compatible for the service I needed so I was unable to take the phone with me. Overall it seemed easy to use and navigate. I wish it would have worked for me.
I have used iPhone 6, and htc one M7. I needed a replacement phone so decided to check this phone out, even though its from a couple years ago. It also gets the windows 8.1 update. I have always liked HTC/Windows products and this is a great phone for everything that I* need. Its simple and I only use a few apps. So the app store might be lacking for some. I notice that even though it does not have some* of the exact same apps and android or apple store. It has apps that link into most of the popular ones. This phone is sleek and the colors are vibrant, and their is a lot of customization. The messaging looks futuristic.
Great phone, very nice design, the battery life however is less than i expected but above that is a very nice phone, easy to use.
