I would say this phone in car terms is like a bottom of the line Mercedes E class or BMW 5 series. It's able to have all the features for the most part that a high end smart phone should have but isn't the high end flagship model. It's able to fake it well. Having owned 2 previous android devices, the mytouch 3g and the motorola charm, and being able to play with friends' high end android phones such as the htc evo 4g and the samsung epic. This phone's screen won't dazzle but it will impress enough. It's also not as fast as the evo or epic but it's faster than the mytouch 3g. That said, compared to the iphone, it's not as easy to use. I still believe that the iphone is still the best phone out there having owned one in the past. Cons about this phone: You can't install that many apps even after installing most apps in your memory card as some apps can't be stored on the memory card. It's interface is different from other android phones. No other android is like this (perhaps that is due to it being part of tmobile's "mytouch" line).Read full review
this is my first ever smart phone. for starters T-MOBILE SERVICE IS AWFUL! i miss my Virgin Mobile service, but they don't offer smart phones on the prepaid plans. EVERYTHING runs on internet, which burns up your allotted MB within a few days. the phone itself is nice, but freezes quite a bit. the power on/off button is sensitive, so the phone turns itself off and on a lot in my pocket. battery life is quite bad. only 1-2 hours of use. standby time about 15hrs. speaker phone feature is ok on my end, but everyone i talk to on it says there is an echo and interference. the problem doesn't seem to happen when not on speaker phone. voice recognition for voice commands and voice texting are HORRIBLE, it never gets anything you say right, even after repeating it for half an hour. much faster to just use the menus and keys, very frustrating. games are great, apps are great, screen is very clear, all works properly and is easy to use. i love being able to arrange the 7 home screens any way i want. very customizable. camera takes really nice video. photos are also good - on a still subject. shutter is slow for taking pictures of anything moving. takes 20 pictures of my cat to get 1 that isn't blurry from slight movement. overall i have fun playing with it more than actually using it. i got this at a used price of $100 because it was a store display model. great for what i paid, but i would never have paid the full retail value of over $200.Read full review
The best part about this phone is its fast Internet connection. It's actually more than 3G, but not all the way to 4G (where available). Using the connection sharing tools like USB Tethering and WiFi Hotspot was like having a portable cable modem or DSL wherever I was. I've had a few memory problems and tried moving some apps to the SD card. That didn't help and it slowed down the system until finally the touch screen wouldn't work. It was replaced under the warranty. Another replacement phone would cycle itself on and off at odd times and without any outside interference. I wish it had the newest version of Android and maybe a few less mandatory programs like Amazon Mp3 that I never use, but would love to remove.
I bought this phone because I wanted to switch to a later more recent version of the Android platform and this MyTouch 3G Slide has fulfilled just that. This phone is an absolute wonder and has many apps available for it on the Android Market. Compared to other phones, this one can do a variety of many things and with a slide-out keyboard, the typing and texting makes this phone even smoother and valuable to behold. A highly recommended piece of flawless technology. :D
It came with broken keyboard and touchscreen, but I got the parts to use it. It's one of the few full screen touch phones of the time to have a pull out keyboard, which makes typing much faster. The touchscreen doesn't work with a pen. Extra batteries are available for a low price. The only downside is it has a slower processor 600MHz, that only supports up to Android 2.2 OS. It is somewhat fragile, and should have a case, or cover for protection.
