I needed another identical 24" monitor (hp w2408) to match my main monitor and I got a great one. I was running a decent 22" (hp w2207) as my second monitor but if they do not match as to size and quality it is a nuisance. This particular 24" monitor is an outstanding one they no longer make. Factory refubs we going for $500 to $800 retail which is ridiculous. The original new price about five years ago was $300 to $350. I got it as a bundle and did not realize how good it was - you usually expect a mediocre one at best. Anyway, I got lucky and found the exact same model on eBay. I’m sure it is the same age as my main monitor. The eBay monitor worked right out of the box and was in very good, gently used condition, as advertised and just like the one I already had. A perfect match and they run together much better than the mismatched setup I've had for quite some time. The eBay monitor came with all of the cables which is nice although I did wind up using the cables I already had on hand (HDMI out to DVI-D) but the extra set of cables now belongs to my other monitor that my son wanted so it all worked out great. The OSD, color fidelity, real estate, resolution, ambient light sensor, four powered USB ports, the tilt and swivel base are all of the positive features. A great monitor for a dual monitor setup (Windows or Mac). No real negatives that I can think of except the USB ports are a bit inconveniently located and some of the nooks and crannies are hard to dust. No big deal.Read full review
Item took a bit of time to get here, but I live all the way across the country. Seller made sure it took signature verification to ensure it gets to the destination. Item was heavily padded and protected. Everything was included to connect to computer. Monitor was in mint condition when I pulled it out of the box. It wasn't in original packaging, but thats fine. I am currently using a VGA signal until I upgrade my computer with a video card for DVI signal. I am however experiencing slight "flickering" of the picture on the monitor. I am not sure whether its because of the VGA or just the monitor. But after a week or 2 of use, I hardly notice it. Monitor is pretty clear. I am sure it would be much sharper if I had hooked it up to a DVI connector. I don't really have any complaints on this monitor. It is slightly better than my old CRT monitor in terms of the sight picture. But I blame the VGA signal. I chose this monitor because it looked crystal clear/sharp when I saw a demo. Monitor is huge. Made me wish I got a 22". EDIT: I finally got around to building my computer with a very good video card. Now its hooked up with DVI signal. It is absolutely amazing. Everything is crystal clear. I play some games on here, and its perfect. I dont experience much lag. There is no longer any more flickering of the screen. I have absolutely no complaints from this monitor. I got use to my monitor being huge too, so it being 24" doesnt bother me anymore.Read full review
I have always been a Sony monitor person. I bought the $2000 Sony DV500 Display years ago, then a Sony 23" HDTV 720P for my monitor. Now I have just bought the HP W2408 monitor and I must say it is by far the best display I have ever seen or used in the under 30" size range. I just bought the ebook "The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on ebay" by Jim Cockrum. It is over 100 pages long. (check out my about me page) I TURNED THE MONITOR 90 DEGREES! And I could read the book one page at a time from 3 feet away in 1080P High Definition glory. WOW! I was able to read the book very easily and fast since I could see a whole page at a time. I have the W2408 hooked up to a HP Pavillion Notebook with HDMI out and a dedicated Nivida graphics card. This is a Killer monitor with no flicker and it is super bright. I also find HP to have the best support network with on line chat and 24x7 phone numbers and on line manuals for old products etc etc. The customer service attitude like the very best department stores so I am totally sold on HP products and services and recomend anyone buying a New Monitor to consider the HP if you want the best.Read full review
I'm a CAD designer and was going to get two(2) 19" LCD Monitors. It seems to be the popular thing now at work & home. I wanted a 24" monitor but they were all to tall. See at home I have a "room" (height) issue. I saw this monitor on display at the Melbourne,FL SAM's CLUB and "whipped-out" my tape measure and low & behold the spring-loaded stand it comes with will let you collapse the thing right down to the table giving you a TOTAL height of just 16". "THIS IS IT ", I screamed!!! "People thought I was nUt'S!" As for appearance....It's Eclectic!! It has a "BEAUTIFUL SHINNY" Black 1.25" Bezel surrounding it. The stand is Silver. It is a "Beautiful Looking" thing. It has built in speakers, not the highest quality but adjusted right adds an accent to my BOSE speakers. As for the resolution, you experts will P in your pants. On a scale from 1-10 I rate this monitor a 9.97 The missing .03 going to the speakers. I've got to say HP you were REALLY THINKING ON THIS ONE!!!! I like it so much, I'm in the market for another one.....Right....NOW!!!!Read full review
