The scanner itself has adjustable buttons. As long as your computer is turned on, you can do one button photocopies in which the scanner sends the scan direct to your printer. The buttons can be set with preset preferences to allow quick control of settings for different document types. The ADF (Automated Document Feeder) works well for standard 8.5 x 11 paper. The scanner can automatically scan both sides of the document and automatically feed up to stacks of paper. The flatbed works well for single sheet scans. You can also use the flatbed to scan negatives with the included attachment. The scanner includes software that makes it easy to index your scans. You basically just create Windows folders, name each scan in the folder, but the software makes it faster and easier to visualize and do. This is not a super fast scanner, but it is all that an average user can ask for. I use mine for digital storage of any papers that I don’t want thrown away. I scan and shred all tax documents, paychecks, statements, payments, etc.Read full review
I was looking for a flatbed scanner compatible with Windows 7 since my older scanner wouldn't support Windows 7. I purchased the HP 7650 to replace my HP 7450C. I actually prefer my older scanner because the software is easier to use for the types of scanning I do. The HP 7650 has been working well and I hope to be able to get used to the operating software for the scanner.
Purchased as a smaller, home office scanner. It works great and takes up much less space than the unit I use in the office. A great little machine with full features.
I bought this scanner because I needed one with the automatic document feeder. I bought it to replace my Canon LideScan 90 which only works for single documents. However, had I gotten a 2.0 USB cable instead of the old 1.0 USB cable that was sent to me by the seller, installation of the driver & software and the appropriate function of the scanner could have been a breeze. Be that as it may, I think the scanner is middle of the line, I also have a Fujitsu scanner that works a lot better and the software is simpler.
I purchased the exact same unit because i had not issues other than software. H.P. does not like 2 units on the same computer
