I have owned a Brother MFP and a Canon MFP. Both were okay but significant limitations were found with each. Not show stoppers but aggravations. Brother I would avoid at all costs because their purchase cost is lower but the cost of supplies is higher. Canon worked well except they advertise that you can do scanning over a network but a quick look at their forums (which naturally won't happen until after purchase) clearly shows that network scanning doesn't work. The stupid thing would regularly go to sleep and not wake up on a print job so you would have to power cycle it. Now for the HP; it works. It simply works and works well regardless of my Windoze laptop or my wife's MacBook Pro. All functions work over the network. Never a problem with printer going to sleep, etc. Setup was easy peasy and quick. All in all I am very happy with it. If you are patient good generic toner can be found on eBay at very good pricing compared to HP.Read full review
The printer was extreamly easy to set up and network with my two laptops, iPads and Galaxy phones for printing. It functioned properly out the box without any calls to customer service or support.
