Just bought this 5150 to replace one I broke getting out a paper jam. It's a compact size and fits on my desk without eating up too much space. Print quality is very good, even in draft format, but printing is rather slow as it clunks out page-by-page. Another downside is the cost of ink cartridges, which are pricey but huge, and you get a LOT of print pages from them. Paper feeds well, but does not stack well when it comes out on this style tray (my older 5150 had a different tray format which worked better). Although the 5150 as a model is well over 10 years old, I think that it can be a bargain on used ones for a reasonable price. It seems to be a near-indestructible workhorse, and I would not have needed to get another one after well over 10 years if I hadn't broken it with my own clumsy hands. Be careful about buying used as you will need the CD to install the setup program. Power cord is specific to this model, but computer cable is standard.Read full review

great print quality--if you're fortunate enough to get printer with low page count,it could last a long time. however, the printer i purchased last month lasted 1 wk. what usually happens--a board that you can no longer get goes out and leaves you with a flashing yellow light, also the indicator that toner is needed. talked to a repair guy--he explained that hp pulls replacement parts as soon as they stop producing printer and therefore he's unable to repair.

I've used one of these HP Deskjet 5150 printers for years and it is a great basic printer. So when I needed a replacement, I wanted the same model. It is well made and sturdy. I always print in black and white so I don't need a color cartridge. This printer will print using only the black cartridge. That makes it economical to use. I am also able to refill that black cartridge, so it is really economical. Gotta love it!

This printer does what you would expect it to do for everyday use - print out your documents and webpages with speed and accuracy. It has given me trouble-free operation over the years, with hardly a jam. The ink cartridges are held securely - almost too securely. If you don't change these things on a regular basis, you feel like you're going to break something when you're removing one. But so far, I've never had a problem changing them. If you can pick one of these up for cheap, it is well worth it. It's really hard to go wrong with an HP printer.
Exactly like a printer I have used for years & years. It is simple to set up....plug in a couple of cables, insert cartridges & paper and viola! it prints. No bells & whistles, just a dependable printer that will print what I want. I am delighted that I found another that is so easy to use.
