excellent factual novel on par with Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler would recommend this to anyone interested in submersible warfare
For what it is, H.M.S. Unseen is excellent. Although it has to measure up to the work of Robert Ludlum and other thriller/espionage writers, this capable novel holds its head up without difficulty. Of course there is an enormous amount of background detail which will frustrate some readers, to do with itineraries followed and military intelligence, yet the characters are well drawn and the plot well thought out, with enough twists and turns to keep you going. There are quite a few holes in the story, but you do not want to read a book in order to find fault with minor details, do you. Takes the reader on a sort of intimate private tour of four or five countries as well, which I enjoyed very much, having some previous knowledge of several of them. Thoroughly recommended (for what it is!).
