I attempted to cancel this order within minutes of ordering. I wasn’t able to so I messaged the seller immediately. They didn’t get the message and shipped my order anyway. Great pump but Check valve issues??
For people who have issues with this quality pump I say take the check valve out of the pump as it can and will catch iron deposits and destroy the pump way before its time... I have found this applies to many boiler pumps used in hydronic heating systems as many people only use plain old tap water in our system. Rust is our enemy folks and the check valve has clogged up my system in the past so I finally removed it to save my pump from failing again with no issues after I did this. Hope this helps people some if they choose to do what I did.. Most systems don't really need the check valve I've found.. Side not once the iron builds up it prevents the check valve from opening causing the pump to run dry... Not sure how to rate this pump. The one this replaced was only 8 years old, and on the basement zone that only got used half those years and only during the NJ winters. I would have thought I would have gotten better longevity; bearings seized. Then again, the up stairs zones uses the same pump and it has been a flawless workhorse for those 8 years. Has three speed setting; which is nice, but only use the Medium setting. Update 10 months later - the above noted replacement pump just died again I NEVER HAD PROBLEMS W/ TACO 1-speed PUMPS FOR 30 YEARS ON MY OTHER BOILER.Not sure how to rate this pump.
