I loved this movie when it came out. This is a piece of the music scene that is depicted just as the movie shows. For all those people that claim EDM - sorry, guys, us old school ravers are definitive - I love trance, psy-trance, progressive trance, acid house, progressive house and slow trance. What about you? I like EDM. Cool. So the San Fran scene was a lot different than Houston scene in 2000. I still find this film an essential capture of time. Plus, Polywog and John Digweed spin !! It says Out of Print (OOP) for a reason . . .. .

I am an an indie film nerd. Plain and simple. I also am a fan of Trance and Progressive, which makes this film even better than porn, at least to me. Given that it's out of print, it is worth your time and effort to pick this little gem of a film up. I swear on my eyeballs and all that is holy among film, comparing "Groove" to "Go" is like comparing "It's a Wonderful Life" to "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". Overall, the film was definitely low-budget. There were only a two truly distinct shots: one occuring in the "chill room" and one at the climax. The characters are quite one-dimensional, which was surprising, considering it debuted at Sundance. The hypothetical question going into the film, however, is this: how much emotion can the production team wring out of a cast of supposedly rolling ravers without the movie becoming melodramatic? Quite a bit actually. The female lead's climactic scene is either indicative of the emotional melancholy that results from the repeated use of ecstasy or lack of emotive acting ability, depending on whether or not you've rolled before. While a non-experienced person wouldn't pick up on it, the emotional state of the main characters takes the viewer through the ride of a good hit of ecstasy for the first-time user and the user crossing the boundary between safely-regular and habitually-regular use, not that I would know anything about that of course. . . I gave it a five, just because of the synaesthesia provoked by that delicious Heaven Scent.Read full review
If you are a raver, then this movie is perfect for you. At first, I didn't like the music selections for the soundtrack, or the way the dj's didn't seem like real dj's. But then, I fell into the music (as I always seem to with electronica music) and remembered that no two dj's are quite the same - and some don't even seem like dj's at all. This movie has a similar feel to "Go", but doesn't seem to have many rises in action. So, sit back, relax and enjoy a movie that seems to be all too real if you've ever been to rave or a really good party. Beware, though. If you do not enjoy the culture that this movie pertains to, then you should not buy this movie. Enjoy!
This is one of my all time favorite movies, it really got me interested in raves when I was fifteen. It's a little cheesy at time but I still love it. the soundtrack is amazing, with really dj's performing the songs in the movie makes it very interesting to watch, as the movie gradually builds to it's climax. If you like raves and the underground scene you will love this movie.
