Looks nice, but does not work nearly as well as my 40+ year old screw starter. WHY? Simple, the cutting treads are dull, very dull when compared to my old used starter. I wanted a second unit to have handy for another work area. I expected better from a NEW tool, despite Great Neck being bargain (cheapo) brand.

The point of the tip is not sharp and therefore it will not dig into the wood to start the screw. Totally useless for what it is supposed to do. Quality seems good if it only had a sharp tip

I tried purchasing this from all our local hardware and big box hardware stores including Sears. Nobody had any idea of what I was talking about -- even Sears where I bought one years ago -- until I explained how the tool works -- some said that sounds like a good idea -- but they didn't have one. I use this tool all the time for starting screws and pinpointing a spot to drill.
