The book is OK and in the traditional easy to use and understand 'dummies' format. I bought it (them actually) because it was used as a reference tool in a workshop for beginning grant writers and I am responsible for the follow-up training for that group. Some of my trainees did not have a copy so I purchased these in order that we all be on the same page. I find myself using more updated materials as learning tools instead of the 2001 version of Grant Writing for Dummies. There is a newer publication and perhaps its more contemporary - I haven't read it yet.
I will be graduating with my MSW in April, and work at a domestic violence shelter on week-ends. In these tough economic times, being able to bring in grant funding is a must for those wishing to remain above the competition in these tough economic times. The book is easy to follow, and very well written. It covered topics (like evaluations) that I had not realized were a part of the grant writing process. It illustrated ways to make your agency grant proposals heads above the competition.
This has more information than I have been able to ingest than any of the the other Grant Writing books or classes that I have read or taken. It is full of down to earth info and easy to understand but since I have the book I don't need to take notes or try to remember all of the internet address' and can go back to them as needed. It gives me what I wanted and what I was looking for. Thank you for this great, informative learning tool.
