This has to be the easiest way for cutting your own planks, the Alaskan and a good saw you'll be on your way, works great for cutting disc the same thickness, only thing I can recommend is the rails for an easier set up on the initial cut, and let's not forget about a damn good chain. My first cut came out perfect. Chose this setup because it was the only one I could find that was American made although having to put it together completely it feels solid and the ease of installing it to the saw was love, depth setting is also simple, actually can not find a fault with it, the only problem I really had was the first time setting up the rails for the first cut, I highly recommend the Alaskan model for beginners to planking,

I bought this to saw some walnut trees that I took out to build a house. After showing my wife the results she has found some uses for them in the new house. It does what it says it will do.

Quality product. Easy to dial in thie slab thickness once you make the first cut. Takes a little practice to set first cut. You need a good saw min 55cc.
