About this product

Product Information

In God is Not One: The Eight Rival Religions That Run the World, New York Times bestselling author of Religious Literacy and religion scholar Stephen Prothero argues that persistent attempts to portray all religions as different paths to the same God overlook the distinct problem that each tradition seeks to solve. Delving into the different problems and solutions that Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Confucianism, Yoruba Religion, Daoism and Atheism strive to combat, God is Not One is an indispensable guide to the questions human beings have asked for millennia-and to the disparate paths we are taking to answer them today. Readers of Huston Smith and Karen Armstrong will find much to ponder in God is Not One.

AOK. Item as described, reasonable condition (as described), excellent price, reasonable packing and shipping time, no problems. Thanks. (Sorry, I don't do star ratings when some are automatic, as it's unfair to buyers to have eBay pre-empt any of the scores. You should complain to eBay, as your star ratings would have been very high.) I can't rate the product until I read it. It's unfair for eBay to require a product rating in order to send feedback! The guys at eBay are heavily into control.

  • Great crash course in the world religions

This is a great crash course in the major world religions. I bought this for my Religious Lit and Film class and I really enjoyed reading it. It gave a lot of great information about all of the religions listed inside, and I feel like I've got a pretty good grasp of the basics of each one. It's very accessible, and is a great introduction text for world religions. Prothero's tone gets in the way at some points, but overall, the book does its job and it does it well.

  • Details about the world's religions

If you are interested in the history of the world's many religions, this well written book is for you.
