I love Debbie Macomber books, I read them all. I loved this one, it's two stories in one book. In the first a journalist is asked to interview three women who have been chosen as finalist an a fruitcake contest. Emma has to travel to three different locations in a small plane with Oliver, the pilot. Oliver takes Emma to the first interview who learns more than what she bargains for from the first woman. She also learns that she indeed does like this fruitcake. On the second interview, Emma interviews an eldery woman who loves fruitcake and cats. This woman has a lot of friends and Emma finds herself having a great time with these people, sharing not only stories but fruitcake as well. This is where she comes in contact with a homeless dog in need of some tlc. Emma tries to sneak Boots, the dog into her apartment and gets caught, getting thrown out in the process. Oliver finds her an apartment- next door to his. All through the story Emma tries to hide her feelings for Oliver although he makes his plain as day. On the third interview, Emma meets a young woman with for children who manages to run her family and make a unique friutcake in the process called "I want it now." In the end Oliver and these three women teach Emma a valuable lesson about loving and the need to live ones life to the fullest even when it has been filled with sadess. Emma finally admits that she is in love with Oliver and his dog just in time to celebrate Christmas with his family. The next Christmas finds them back at his family home only this time they are expecting a present of their own. I loved this story and learned a lot not only about love but about fruitcake too! This book comes with three fruitcake receipes that I must try next holiday season. The second story is called Her Comes Trouble. I like this story and the way it is presented. It's told to the children of the couple who are the story. It starts with the kids getting ready for bed and they want to hear the story of how mommy met daddy. These two are journalist from rival papers. She is from s rich family and only got her job because daddy owns the paper. He teases her in a column in the paper, making fun of her. She takes it personally and moves out of her apartment. he helps her find one because he feels responsible for her. He gets her an apartment beside him. She quits her job determined to make it on her own with no help from her family. These two form a freindship and often have lunch at a small cafe near their apartments. She tells him that she is workig for Rent-a-Maid and he gets furious and asks her to quit. She does getting a job in the cafe they eat at. He is a aspiring writer and is often working every night, keeping her awake. They have many little battles over her job, his writing and many other things. They both realize they are falling for the other but won't admit it. She makes the first move telling him how she feels and he sends her away, back to her rich family. While she is gone he is lonely and finds he can't live without her. He finally sells his book, and goes looking for her thinking that her father is trying to buy him for her. When he comes face to face with her he realizes that her father had nothing to do with it, that he loves her. They set a wedding date and move back to Seattle to live. In the end the two girls they have find out that they will be getting a little brother next yesr. Great love story with a happy ending.Read full review
What warm hearted & happy reading. Puts the reader in the holiday frame of mind. Debbie's character are humourous, interesting and yet very believable. She actually has the ability to transport the reader into the story. WONDERFUL READING.
I liked it...........................................................................................................................................................
I bought this for my mom. She is very picky about what she reads and she is raving about how good this book is.
