Wanted a Gold Top without all the new technology Gibson putting out. Just a good sounding and playing LP. That's what the 2017 Classic is, no db boost , no coil tap, no confusing tuner, just a guitar to play and enjoy. I am 70 yrs old and bought my first LP in the 70's,( yes I still have it). I still play in a cover band and this LP Classic with my Marshall and pedal board is very nice. I own a lot of Strats and Tele's, and Fender tube amps, and I love em, but when I was a young man the Gibson LP was the pinnacle. If you had a LP back then it was special. Anyway enough reminiscening, its a great guitar. I would recommend it. I heard a guy doing a demo on one and he called it a mid priced LP, and I suppose I can understand where he is coming from, but to me its the perfect LP.
