I bought this by mistake since Joanne Dobson is not one of the authors - I even asked her. However, it looks fairly interesting and has an interesting array of participants. Roberta Hestenes is someone I knew from another context and she has risen in my esteem because of her discussion in this book. Also, the discussion is sufficiently esoteric to hold my interest.
This book is a transcript of the Bill Moyers PBS special by the same name. It offers commentary on key episodes of Genesis by people who represent a broad range of religious beliefs. Because the book is literally a transcript, it can at times be a very slow read (it's amazing how a Bible story can be interpreted in so many varied ways), but there is always a "nugget" that stands out and winds up being meaningful to the reader. Overall, it's worth the struggle and will leave you with a deeper appreciation and understanding of the first book of the Pentateuch.
