I believe this is still available as a new product. Made of Lexan plastic. Seems durable enough to last a long time with careful use. Pin holding roller on mine is glued in place and has come loose, but this can easily be replaced with a nut and bolt if it becomes a problem. Main advantage of this design is that the angle is adjustable so you can run the roller on a table and rub the blade on sharpening stones of various thicknesses, even very small ones, or even on emery cloth or sand paper. This is helpful because my rough stones, diamond stones and Arkansas finish stones are all different thicknesses. With simpler models on the market, the angle is fixed and the fixture also rolls on the stone, so you need a somewhat larger stone to provide a surface for both blade and roller. Also, I suspect all chisel and plane blades may not be exactly the same angle, and with this fixture you should be able to adjust to the exact angle you need. The adjustments seem to hold steady without slipping.Read full review
