Having used the older Garmin 550 zumo for the last several years, this model is definitely not the same. The 350lm does come with lifetime map updates, which saves money, but it lacks the features I've come to expect from a motorcycle GPS. The Bluetooth now only links to a headset, not both phone and headset,so you have to choose hearing the directions or being able to answer calls. Also, there are no buttons to zoom the map or adjust volume and brightness; so doing this from the menu with gloves during a ride is dangerous! The massive internal storage is a plus and newer features such as the maintenance log and internal speakers make it satisfying, but not top notch.
It has bluetooth only to speak the route information and prompts. If you pick it up used for $180-$260 with the cradle and cable for the bike, it's a good deal, otherwise skip it. You can find better for more money. it is NOT worth anywhere near the full retail price.

I chose this unit because I wanted a GPS that would handle the environment on a motorcycle, locate routes as well as accept downloads of pre-set routes and transfer between my motorcycle and cars if needed. I would have scored it excellent in all categories except I haven't quite figured out why the city to search in doesn't always default to asking for that city or a zip code, you need to press another command to get to that. The split keys for entering alpha characters is a point of criticism for some but if you don't like it, you simply set it to the regular format. It acquires signals very fast and calculates routes quickly as well. One other small issue is that it is designed to be powered through the cradle when on a motorcycle. When you use that cradle it blocks being able to use the regular automobile power access port. I understand this is partially to help with the weather resistance of the unit, but I would like the option of being able to avoid hardwiring the cradle so that I could take it off easily for when I don't use the GPS. Other than those small issues I have found it to be a great asset. It is also new enough to still accept upgrades in the maps yet there are newer models that allow this unit to be competitively priced.Read full review
