All the indicators are too dim. Even with the dim control turned all the way up it is nearly impossible to read the channels, frequency, and especially reading the SWR meter is difficult. The best way to operate the radio is in a dimly lite room. I have seen where some CB shops install LEDs in the meter which makes a big difference. These 72 year old eyes need all the help they can get. MAKE EVERYTHING BRIGHTEDR. Other than that I really like the radio very much. More Bright!

The two people I talk to said it was braking up and Could not understand me. Not too good of a rating yet. Also can’t read the Chanel selector during day time looks like it’s on Chanel 88 also had to paint dots on nobs so you know what positions there in . Wish I could find some one to fix my old Uniden Washington Witch was a Whole lot easier to use.

I am very happy with the new Galaxy radio that I purchased on Ebay from electronicscheapo. The radio was talking large right out of the box! I have been talking DX (long distance)all over the east and southeast portion of the USA. My station is located about 30-miles southwest of Chicago and my call numbers are MDS-323. The farthest trip I have been able to make so far was over 900 miles from my base, down to Clearwater, Florida. This is a fantastic radio that is built with the quality and appearance of a high end amateur radio. I am very pleased with the construction, features and overall performance of this radio. I would highly recommend this radio for anybody who is serious about talking on AM or Side Band. This radio is totally upgradeable and puts out more than the FCC legal power limits right out of the box. I actually had to turn mine down and make some adjustments but they were very easy to do. With the owners manual and expanded circuit diagrams that Galaxy provides, it is a breeze for even a novice to adjust and customize. My recommendation: Buy it, you'll love it! If anybody wants to try and contact me "On-Air" you can set your dial to channel 38. I am usually on the lower side band (LSB). Call me MDS-323 on 27.385Mhz LSB and lets QSO. 73's to all the operators out there and I hope top hear you on the air. I am usually monitoring/broadcasting after 11PM CST on weekends and weekdays between 10AM & 2PM depending on conditions.Read full review
It’s a very nice base station. Has plenty of features and is easy to use. If you’re looking for a cb base station with SSB this is a must buy. I’m very happy.

I love how it looks and the functionality of all that this radio offers. My problem with it so far, is the display on the front seems to be very dim in any normal lighting situation. The darker the room the better! But it does have all the goodies for any novice to be able to use and understand right off the bat. Myself am more used to a Galaxy 2517 style unit, I like alot more bells n whistles in my toys. :-) Galaxy seems to be stretching their realm of sales into the more *consumer style* radios, as not everybody in this day n age knows what a CB is. I decided to purchase this unit as it was bundled a nice mic and receiving clarifier. The radio itself was more or less just for me to play around with for a bit, but not for long term use. I give it a average rating because of the balance of style and usability of it overall.Read full review
