As with all the Gaggia espresso machines I have owned,it makes a loveley cup of coffee with good crema but there are four points that I'm not happy with, and they are that the power switch is at the rear of the machine and the indicator lights at the front are not bright enough so that on several occasions I have left the machine switched on for long periods. (OK that's my fault for inattentiveness but with brighter lights it would be a lot less likeley to happen). Also I find the pump noisier in operation than my other machines, but after all it's only for a few seconds per cup.The drip tray is not particularly easy to keep clean but I'm a bit OCD about keeping things spotless. I like the overall look of the machine, the water tank with built in filter is good and the frother which swivels into a virtually out of sight position pleases me. So, I'm quite happy with this machine, but I wouldn't buy another one of this model.Read full review
I have had this espresso maker for four weeks and here are my initial thoughts. Bearing in mind that this is my fourth espresso / cappuccino machine. Though the machine can make good coffee it can be cumbersome to use. Specifically- You find that the coffee flow is either too little or too much - it's really difficult to tell if you've put just enough or too much coffee in the holder the result being a tiny drip of coffee about a teaspoonful or else it gushes out and gets burnt and thin. The milk warmer/ foamer is perhaps my biggest gripe. You have to place an empty mug under the spout and then turn the steamer on and then wait until water stops coming out and steam starts. You can fill half a cup of water every time you want hot milk - even if you've just heated milk for a coffee two minutes ago, this can be a real pain when you're trying to juggle all the different elements of getting a decent cup of coffee. I sometimes think that the steamer imparts a slight sweet taste to the milk too- but this could be my taste buds. There's too much variability allowed in getting good coffee from this machine, I'm sure I'll get better over time but if you're looking for a hassle free way of making coffee lokk elsewhereRead full review
I bought this product after reading a which? magazine review on it. I have not been dissappointed with it and am extremely impressed. It was supposed to be for my husband as I love my tea but I have been making more and more coffees for myself. It took a few attempts to get it right but I think I have got it sussed to make the coffee just the way I (and he) like(s) it. The taste is excellent, good crema and strength. The steamer works very well even with skimmed milk. It is so much better than most coffees I have been subjected to in coffee shops. My husband & I estimate it will pay for itself easily in less than a year. I used to use a Phillips senseo machine, this Gaggia is miles better, there's such a vast difference in the quality. I would absolutely recommend this machine, I only wish we had bought one earlier! We have experimented with different brands of coffee (Illy, Lavazza, Taylors etc) and have settled on one we both like. The quality of the coffee used makes a big difference as well, use espresso or beans and grind. I drink more coffee than tea now. I can't think of any negatives.Read full review

This was my second Gaggia espresso machine. The first, a Cubika, was a bit of a let down. It wasn't really man enough for the job. They're still sought after so it sold easily on Ebay and I put the money towards a Gaggia Baby Class. That was a really good move. It's a much more robust, heavy machine than the Cubika and the powerful pump allows it to put a good crema on the coffee and gives bags of steam for frothing your milk. I rarely used the old machine as it seemed like a lot faff and wasn't very good at frothing but with the new one I use it several times a day - the whole family want Dad to make them a coffee! I really can't recommend the Baby Class highly enough. Buy one and you'll see what all the fuss is about.
