The LG VX4500 is a great buy for those who want a good quality phone, but don't need extra features, such as camera capability. READ THIS if nothing else in this review: This phone's reception is slightly below average and IS NOT COMPATIBLE with Pix messaging. Read on for details. This review is essentially a copy of what I wrote about this phone for other carriers besides Verizon Wireless. I've updated it a little, but the phone and its performance is the same. The VX4500 is a very easy to use phone. The buttons are easy to press and you can text message as fast as you want, thanks to the hard buttons that are well-tensioned and large. The menus are intuitive, and the settings are easy to change. This flip phone has a B&W front LCD that is easy to read and informative. The phone is also very durable. The earpiece is loud, as is the speakerphone and ring tones. The microphone picks up voice very clearly. The display is large and clear, even when it's heavily smudged. This phone has a very good driving mode- because of the excellent speaker and microphone, you'll find it good enough for most phone calls in the car. The driving mode also implements the VX4500's voice-recognition capability, which does actions based on what you tell it to do. (The rest of this paragraph only discusses this feature, so you can skip if you want.) It will work out-of-the-box with no training, but you will eventually get around to doing it- it's a 2 minute process. Anything you can think of doing, except for changing settings, surfing the web, playing games, and text messaging, can be done through the voice-recognition. That means making phone calls (whether you recite numbers or a contact in your phone book, which the VX4500 does not need you to train it for!), checking the time or battery and reception levels, etc. Now for the downsides: compared to the Nokia 6015i or even other LG phones, the VX4500 suffers from ever-so-slightly poor reception. I am basing this against these phones when using Verizon Wireless at the same time, in the same place. If there's poor reception in your area, the VX4500 will drop calls more often then others. However, in medium reception, the phone calls will be crystal clear. Also, if you're in on the Pix messaging, prepare to be disappointed: the VX4500 is not compatible with Pix or Flix messaging. The message will only be viewable online, from a computer. It supports GetItNow- not all programs, but popular ones like Diner Dash and Skipping Stone still work with it, as do most ringtone purchasing applications. The VX4500 supports both polyphonic and "lifelike" (i.e., mp3) ringtones. Battery life is OK, but if you talk on the phone for hours per day, expect to charge it every day or so. Overall, this phone is very good if you don't have a problem with Pix messaging or reception.Read full review
I used this one. My favorite and best feature was the driving mode. Very easily trained for voice dial prompt for fast on the road service. Driving mode worked with the push of a button on the side of the phone instead of trying scrolling through the menu, selecting one item from the menu to get to the next. Could also talk into the phone for dialing numbers (voice number dialing.) this phone had many great features to use and see.
I bought the LG 4500 Speaker Phone to replace the exact model that I lost. The day my phone was lost, I contacted Verizon to tell them the situation. They told me they could suspend my number until I got another phone, and then hook me back up with the same number, same plan, same everything. The only catch, I had to buy one at retail. I paid $49.99 for my orginal phone. Turns out, this phone retails for about $200.00. I found my exact make and model on E-bay for $40.00. It was easy to hook up with my orginal number. I am very happy with this phone. It has a loud ringer, speaker phone, color display, Get-It-Now feature, text messenging, downloadable ringtones, basically everything but a camera (and I didn't want a camera phone). However, you can download the Yahoo Pictures program and put whatever photos you have uploaded to Yahoo onto your phone. The menus are easy to use, the phone is small, light weight, and the battery will stay charged for a LONG time (usually 5-6 days with very little "talk time", or 3-4 days with normal calling activity). I am very pleased with this phone. I recommend it to anyone wanting a dependable, long lasting, easy to use speaker phone.Read full review
A phone that can be described like this is always a good deal! I highly recommend it to everyone who needs a telephone to carry with them! I use mine to talk and text A LOT!! The color screen is not only pretty, it's big enough to make texting very easy! The speakerphone and ringer can be turned up REALLY LOUD if needed!! :-) The external display is quite handy. The driving mode makes it much safer to use while driving. The announce mode actually says the name of the person who is calling you! The voice activation lets you do many functions without pushing any buttons! I've highly recommended this phone to several of my blind friends! No it's not an mp3 player. No it's not a camera. No it's not a camcorder. ...but, a telephone is for communication NOT ENTERTAINMENT! RIGHT?
This phone has been my sidekick now for about a year & a half. I have put this phone through torture and it still treats me great. I hear many complaints about the buttons on the side changing modes (not a major problem for me) and that is the only problem I have heard of that I can confirm. This phone has neat features for its age and gets tremendous reception. I am coming on trading it for a new phone and while I have liked this phone very much I am kind of excited to get a new one. If you need a good, low budget, quality phone with long talk time and battery life this is the phone for you. I used this phone while traveling on the road as a small transporter and the reception was never a problem. The mobile web also helped my check my email while traveling. I can't complain about this fine little piece of equipment!Read full review
